As an athletic trainer in Major League Baseball I deal with a variety of injuries. However, I realize that the most important treatment many times is the first one, and for me microcurrent is the obvious choice. I am writing this letter to inform you of some of the miracles I have seen with the use of the Alpha-Stim and grace of God. Over the last nine months, I have used the Alpha-Stim 100 and the SCS. Out of approximately 600 patients, some of the miracles I have seen include diabetic and peripheral neuropathy patients, acute and post-herpetic neuralgia, and thoracic radiculitis.
One of my patients had four low back surgeries which had failed. His last surgery was removal of hardware. He is in his early 40’s. He also had a cervical failed neck and had been on disability for ten years. He was treated several times with the Alpha-Stim, as well as a series of cervical epidural steroid injections. After this second treatment with the use of the Alpha-Stim to the low back and treating, especially the scars, he had no back pain. This gentleman proceeded to play golf and baseball as a catcher. After several weeks, he had no neck pain or numbness of the upper extremities. After a month, he was completely pain free. He was so excited about the way he felt, he told everyone in his small community where he lives what had happened.
Each of my patients with peripheral neuropathies as well as edema to the lower extremities, had noticed within a 15 to 30 minute session using the probes followed by the clips, all had diuresed for the next several days. On their following visits, they also had improved circulation and color to the lower extremities.
I truly thank God, you, Dr. Smith and your staff at Electromedical for this wonderful technology, which has made a significant impact on my practice and in the way I treat patients. I have reduced my injections by over 50%.

Here is the follow-up I promised you. I remained with the Alpha-Stim 100 using it daily and at night for 2 weeks when liver capsular pain was at its height through December. Mid January I became pain free and the liver shrank down to NORMAL size!!! I discontinued the use of the unit. My internist was amazed, not expecting the regression in liver size. Coincidentally the auxillary nodes shrank in size. I began to feel really quite well.
Mid March, unfortunately, the liver started to increase in size and lymph nodes enlarged again. I began to feel quite tired again. I have restarted the use of the Alpha-Stim, hoping for another turnaround. At least I’m quite relieved of pain while the unit is on! The unit has made it possible to live since September off all drugs and functional.
The sad news is that the blood count is worsening unrelenting; total protein is dropping. Though the liver function tests indicating early abnormalities in January reverted to normal by early March.
The question I ask myself: should I continue using the unit were I to become pain free again— sort of prophylactically? Does the setback have anything to do with discontinuing the use of the unit in January? The blood count tells me the fundamental cancerous process is progressing relentlessly in spite of the electrical intervention. Maybe we have not given the electrical intervention enough time? Hope springs eternally!!!!

I am writing this letter as an unconditional endorsement for the Alpha-Stim 100 unit. I work in a large county facility, treating both inpatients and outpatients. For four and a half years prior to 1996, I suffered from a sleeping disorder. I would wake up from a sound sleep approximately three hours after I went to bed and one of two things would happen. It would either take me 3 or 4 hours to fall back asleep, or I would continue to wake throughout the night, at least once every hour. This would happen every night, seven nights a week.
In the spring of 1996, we started using the Alpha-Stim unit in our clinic to treat chronic pain, fibromyalgia, as an adjunct to relaxation therapy. I started using the Alpha-Stim CES myself, in hopes that it would help me with my sleeping disorder. I used it once a day for the first two weeks, twenty minutes per session. Almost immediately I started sleeping through the night for the first time in almost five years. As a clinical psychologist, I have specialized in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain for the last ten years. I was affiliated with the Chronic Pain Program at Miami Valley Hospital and with the St. Elizabeth's Regional Pain Program in Dayton, Ohio, for the past three years. One of our primary treatment modalities has involved the use of microcurrent technology, both within the confines of our pain program and at our private practice facility.
I have had the opportunity to introduce the Alpha-Stim 100 unit to my entire caseload of chronic pain patients in our private practice and without exception, each and every one of these patients has experienced tremendous benefits from the use of this microcurrent device. In many cases, this has involved a complete and total cessation of pain for the duration of a week or more. At the very least, the remainder of these chronic pain patients have experienced a very dramatic diminution of their chronic pain, also with long-standing effects of one to two weeks. On a 0 to 10 pain rating index, the majority of them have reported a decrease in subjective pain ratings of 6 to 7 points. I have used this unit with patients diagnosed with chronic myofascial pain or fibromyalgia, severe neck and back injuries stemming from multiple industrial accidents, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, post-hepatic neuralgia, bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, permanent eye injuries, migraine headaches, cluster headaches, vascur headaches, tension headaches, and knee injuries. One of the most notable cases involves treatment of a patient suffering from multiple back injuries, who had been addicted to narcotic analgesics for a period of five years. With the use of her Alpha-Stim 100 unit, she has remained medication-free for five weeks at present, and without any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. All of these findings have been clearly documented in my patient records. In all honesty, I can only say that microcurrent technology has revolutionized chronic pain treatment in our practice.
In order to separate the use of the transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator (TENS) from the Alpha-Stim 100 unit, it is important to emphasize that the TENS unit is a pain blocker that applies an electrical force, which stimulates pain-suppressing nerve fibers to work against pain-carrying nerve fibers. Microcurrent devices instead produce stimulation within painful areas of the body, utilizing the very same electrical current maintained by the body's cellular structure. This allows the body to re-adjust towards a state of homeostasis of ten times, to a more normalized pain-free state, with far greater longevity of healing effects than the TENS unit produces.

I received my Alpha-Stim 100 about two weeks ago and have used it in several circumstances. Being a physician who specializes in complex medical problems, I have had the opportunity to use it in patients with severe status asthmaticus unresponsive to medications. Not only did it reduce their anxiety but also caused sufficient bronchodilation to allow the patients to leave the office shortly after. One patient was about to be hospitalized, and 20 minutes of Alpha-Stim in selected areas provided her enough relief to go home! In addition, we have had several acute anxiety attacks and migraines easily controlled after 20 minutes of the Alpha-Stim use.

I am writing to inform you of the results of our pilot project utilizing the Alpha-Stim to assist people in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.
The results were overwhelmingly positive. We administered twenty-five, one-hour sessions to fifteen volunteers in two San Diego recovery homes. Time in recovery before treatment ranged from several days to seven months. Participants were all male and about half were Hispanic.
The mid and post-test scores showed significant and dramatic improvements. Of course, long-term follow-up is necessary.
I have enclosed a copy of a graph of the group average scores in depression reduction utilizing the Beck Depression Inventory, which demonstrates extremely positive effects after only twelve (12) sessions (midpoint).
On our other tests, the Multiple Affect Adjective Checklist and the Personal Orientation Inventory, participants evidenced similar significant decreases in anxiety and hostility, (these were often reduced to zero) and significant increases in self-worth, feeling-expression, and capacity for intimate contact.
Verbal feedback was equally exciting. One participant said afterwards, "something inside me has shifted and I just know I'm never going to take another drink of alcohol again." Another said, "I've been sober for about 75 days, but it feels like I've been sober for years."
The Alpha-Stim was a vital part of all this. Participants eagerly looked forward to using it, and expressed their appreciation from having benefited from it.

I am writing you with regards to one of our patients, J.F., who was treated at St. Joseph Hospital by a team of one podiatrist, endocrinology, and infectious disease for a deep space infection of the left foot. She was incised and drained on 9/11/92 with an ingress/egress system in order to assist the drainage. Upon removal of the drain system, and discontinuation of the wet-to-dry deep wound packing, an Alpha-Stim microcurrent unit was begun, with intensity of "6" used for two hours b.i.d. in order to speed the granulation process of the large crater so created from the infection. Following approximately seven days of Alpha-Stim microcurrent therapy, the base of the wound was noted to be granulating nicely, with a marked diminishment of the formation of fibrotic and necrotic tissue at the base of the wound. The necessity to debride this wound was markedly diminished after usage of the Alpha-Stim. Also noted at that time was a surprising degree of neoepithelialization about the wound edges. The above healing process has proceeded much more quickly than I would have expected otherwise, given the patient's diabetes with labile blood glucose levels.
Incidentally noted during the treatment, Ms. J.F. was noted to have a decrease in the neuropathic symptomatology in the left foot, after approximately four to five days of usage of the Alpha-Stim microcurrent unit. We are hypothesizing that this may be as a result of increased circulation into the area, which is supported by the observation that the "roof" of the deep space infection, quite tenuous post-operatively, has at this point survived.
I would, then, like to thank you for helping us with this most complex case. Both patient J.F. and I are quite pleased with the healing results so obtained with your microstimulation machine.

First, an expression of appreciation for the most diligent and kind manner in which you indoctrinated my office personnel with the use of the Alpha-Stim CS apparatus for management of chronic pain problems in my patient population. From this initial experience, I am quite confident that a percentage of my patients will indeed find that this markedly lessens their chronic medication support, and safely utilize the Alpha-Stim apparatus on a long term basis at home. Having used the Alpha-Stim 2000 for over eight years in a medical practice in Torrance, California, I can truly endorse the efficacy of both its healing and pain relieving qualities. I have found, however, one application which apparently always relieves the patient and seems to be the only modality which is effective for this disorder. I am referring to Sciatica pain.
This is a most pervasive malady of obscure etiology which affects a sizable population. The pain can be very debilitating and can radiate from the pelvic region through the entire involved limb. I have had patients arrive barely able to walk with literally months of recurring pain for which they had found no medical chiropractic, or other relief for their suffering.
After the initial treatment of approximately 45-60 minutes, almost every patient reports 60-85% relief of their pain. Usually the pain returns within 12-24 hours after the first treatment but rarely to the original level. The second treatment lasts considerably longer and has a 80-100% relief level. By the end of the third treatment, pain in most cases has been completely relieved and the patient is symptom free. The most severe cases can take as many as five treatments.
The treatment starts with one electrode placed directly above the greater sciatic foramen and the other making a complete circle of about four inches in diameter around it. When an area of low electrical response is found, it is treated minutely. The dermatone is then followed around to the hamstring muscles and on down the limb to and including the toes. Emphasis is given to the sciatic area on the pad of the heel as well as the appropriate acupuncture meridians. Auricular therapy is applied to the sciatic point as well as other painful areas. The patient is advised to keep physical activity to minimum during the treatment process, and while in a prone position have someone pull on the affected limb for about five minutes, at 10 second intervals, twice a day.

For more than 10 years, I have enjoyed using the Alpha-Stim 2000 TENS unit to help my patients experience relief from pain and stress-related symptoms. We also used the old portable Alpha-Stim unit, and although it was effective, it was large and cumbersome and not really portable. The new Alpha-Stim CS is compact, easy to use, and I think it is fantastic! We let patients with cranio-mandibular symptoms either rent or purchase the machine as an adjunct to other modalities with great success. We keep one at home to reduce stress, and I have found that I can reduce my own blood pressure 4-5 points or more in 15-20 minutes with the use of this machine.
I mainly want to share with you my enthusiasm about the role that the Alpha-Stim CS plays for patients in the dental treatment environment. For several years, we used nitrous oxide/oxygen conscious sedation for nervous patients. With growing concerns about drugs and/or safety associated with nitrous oxide, we no longer have it available in our office. We have found that using the ear clip electrodes and the new Alpha-Stim CS allows patients to experience a level of relaxation during dental treatment as well as reduced fatigue after their dental visits. We introduce the machine in this way: "Since you will have your mouth open for such a long time, I'd like to have you try this new "TENS" unit which uses a very mild stimulation on the earlobes that relaxes the muscles in the jaw, neck, and shoulders." After the patient has experienced the "tingle" on the earlobe(s), he/she can then adjust the level up or down for comfort and have a feeling of control. In addition, patients can choose from various cassette tapes to listen during treatment as well as other relaxation techniques which add significantly to their comfort. Patients truly enjoy the relaxation, and our work is far more enjoyable. The new machine is the key here!

I have been using the Alpha-Stim CS for six months now. As the President of the American Academy of Neural Therapy, I am most concerned and involved with the treatment of chronic intractable pain. One of the most important and overlooked contributing factors in chronic pain is the abnormal afferent neurological activity originating from scar tissue. Traditionally, the treatment for this condition was the injection of the scar with procaine or lidocaine ("neural therapy"). Faced with the dilemma that neither dentists nor chiropractors or other healthcare professionals that are not M.D.s or D.O.s are allowed by law to inject local anesthetics, we were therefore looking for modalities other than injections that could help restore normal electrochemical function of scar tissue. The Alpha-Stim CS is the first such device that consistently was able to successfully and lastingly treat the scars, such as hysterectomy scars, appendectomy scars, etc. The electrode is applied to either end of the scar. The current will travel allow the path of least resistance, which usually is the scar itself. We found treatment times of 7-12 minutes sufficient. Just as with injection treatment in neural therapy, treatment often needs to be repeated 2-3 times (at one week intervals). We are using muscle testing (applied kinesiology) as a guide as to when the treatment is completed. The results have been as long lasting as the results with the local anesthetic injection. Therefore, I recommend the Alpha-Stim CS to all health practitioners for the use in neural therapy treatment.

I am a licensed acupuncturist in private practice. I recently purchased the Alpha-Stim CS and have been very pleased with its performance. One patient was suffering from an acute shoulder pain. After one 20 minute treatment with the Alpha-Stim CS, her pain was greatly reduced. By the following day the pain was completely gone. A second patient had been suffering chronic neck and shoulder pain. After one 10 minute treatment, she reported that the level of pain was lower than it had been for 9 months. Her relief lasted for over a week. After the 2nd treatment her condition continued to improve.

I was diagnosed as having degenerative disc disease of the spine, L5S1, in August, 1990. I was taking intensive physical therapy as often as four times per week in an effort to relieve my severe low back pain. While the physical therapy did achieve temporary relief, I never received any long-standing pain relief. I found myself relying on medications to obtain relief.
On January 4, 1991, my pain became so intense that I was forced to seek additional medical evaluation. I was then diagnosed as having Hodgkin's disease. The enlarged liver and spleen were putting pressure on my spine, causing the additional intense pain. At times, I also experience abdominal pain. My Chiropractor had ordered an Alpha-Stim CS for my original back discomfort. Shortly after learning about the diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease, my Alpha-Stim CS arrived.

I am a retired 69 year old dentist trained in Oral surgery. I purchased the Alpha-Stim CS to treat a recurring pain and spasticity in both sternocleidomastoid muscles which did not respond very well to the traditional treatment.
By placing one electrode pad on the muscle origin and its mate toward the muscle insertion and the other set of pads in the contra-position, I gave the most painful left muscle two 20 minute 0.5 Hz treatments. There was a very noticeable relief of pain. I treated the less painful right muscle in the same manner and the pain was almost fully relieved. It took four days of treatment to relieve all of the pain and stiffness. In addition to the above results and a bonus which I cannot explain, a left sub-deltoid bursitis which had been bothering me for about four months completely disappeared the morning after the first muscle treatment.
I have been bothered with an intermittent tinnitus since about 1950. It became continuous in about 1965. I was unaware that there was any successful treatment of this annoying complaint until reading about it in the Alpha-Stim manual. The noise in my left ear was a constant loud whistling and the right ear a less noisy ringing. By placing the ear-clip electrodes on my earlobes and the pads at the level of my upper posterior teeth and using 0.5 Hz for two 20 minute treatments for about a week, the ringing noise disappeared completely and the whistling noise was reduced about 85%.
Thank you for developing this new instrument. It certainly has made my life much more enjoyable.

Recently, I read an article in my local paper, a reprint from the Los Angeles Times about the Alpha-Stim CS, and I decided to get more information about it, which I did, and subsequently bought the unit.
My reasons for buying the unit were threefold: professional, personal, and educational. My professional reasons for buying the unit were for it's occasional use in painful conditions in dogs. My personal reasons for buying the unit were to alleviate pain from a bicycle accident last summer, and to relieve pain from gouty arthritis in my right knee which was a result of surgery in 1987. The back, knee, and hip are getting better, but there was an unexpected result from the CES use of the unit. My educational reasons are hopefully quite obvious.
During World War Two, I contracted meningo-coccus septicemia, which caused me to become ataxic and generally paralyzed. Luckily, I recovered with most of my faculties, yet I believe it left me with some subtle changes in my personality along with a slight disturbance in my balance. For example: I have been trying to ride my bicycle with "no hands" as I did as a teenager. This I have tried to do for a period of more than two years, and I was unable to do it for more than a few yards.
After three weeks of therapy with the Alpha-Stim, mostly with the CES phase, I was able to ride my bicycle for more than a fourth of a mile with "no hands". At present, I can do it up to a mile and with some wind.
This came as a complete surprise to me, and it appears that the Alpha-Stim has healed a brain lesion of forty five years duration, and I am pleased. I might add that I am sixty-five years of age.

As a family practice physician, I see a large number of patients with pain from various causes. I have found the Alpha-Stim CS to be an excellent instrument in not only helping to control pain, but also in eliminating pain for long periods of time. As an example, I have a patient with arthritis that was having severe pain in her left knee, which was not controlled by medication. After one treatment, she was able to sleep through the night.
